With 90% of our media owned by just 6 companies, journalist Tianna Mañón tells us how minority media can help bring a new perspective.

Tianna Mañón is the Editor in Chief of Open Mic Rochester, a recently relaunched online black magazine serving the Rochester area. She is a Rochester native and holds a degree in journalism and political science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Tianna has a deep love for all things Rochester and hopes to use her passion and skills to one day make it a better place.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Minority Information Channel

MIC is a video and audio aggregator that highlights the voices of minority multimedia publishers, and broadcasters. MIC seeks to amplify authentic multicultural viewpoints in order to diversify economic, political, and social narratives being propagated by mainstream media outlets regarding racial minorities.
